Important notes
EO 86, signed 24 April 2025: age 18+, remote work using digital technology, sufficient income earned outside the Philippines, clean criminal record and insurance covering the visa period.
No Philippine employment or security threat; the employer or clients must be outside the Philippines.
Nationality reciprocity: the applicant's country must offer digital-nomad visas to Filipinos. The framework also addresses filing through Philippine foreign-service posts.
The official eVisa policy page lists the application form, passport valid one year beyond the intended stay, CV, financial capacity, police certificate, one-year international health insurance, lodging, medical certificate/chest X-ray, and foreign-employer or client evidence.
The same page says foreign employment/client evidence must show remote-compatible work, at least six months of employment or engagement and compensation above twice the previous year's Philippine GNI per capita; any affidavit and sworn undertaking must follow the official form. Production availability, current amount, eligible-country interpretation and accepting post still require DFA confirmation.
On 14 October 2026, the official eVisa staging policy page exposed the 47(a)(2) category and a detailed document list. No production DFA/BI checklist or confirmed China filing channel was verified; the staging page is not proof that a China post is accepting applications.
The staging portal is useful evidence of the framework's intended documents, but it is not an operational application launch. This route remains excluded from ordinary recommendations and new target selection until a production channel and China reciprocity are confirmed.
A tourist visa or extension is not evidence of permission to work remotely. No tourist-visa workaround is recommended here.
Preparation checklist
Request written DFA or consular confirmation that the digital-nomad category is accepting applications.
Ask whether your passport meets the reciprocity condition and which post can accept it.
Obtain the official checklist, income amount and fee before committing funds.
Collect foreign contracts, income records, insurance and criminal-record evidence only against that checklist.
Confirm the granted work scope and stay conditions before travel.
