Obtain admission or an official enrolment certificate from a recognised Uruguayan educational institution for the study, internship, scholarship, or other approved programme.
Apply for the temporary residence process and provide the identity, criminal-record, vaccination, health-card, photo, and translated or apostilled-document evidence requested by the authorities.
Show sufficient means of support for the stay and keep the residence purpose connected to the approved educational activity.
If working while studying, ensure the activity is permitted under the residence conditions and employment law; the residence status, rather than a separate generic work-permit document, is what enables ordinary work where authorised.
Uruguay's official residence guidance lists students among the activities that can support temporary residence; study-related residence is generally granted for the authorised programme and can have its own renewal limit.
A student residence is not automatically an unrestricted work route. Confirm the current employment conditions before accepting paid work or treating the route as a general digital-nomad permit.
