Residence permit as skilled worker with own sole proprietorship

Important notes
Be a skilled worker whose qualifications are relevant to the proposed assignment or business activity.
For the established-business route, operate a genuine business abroad, normally as a sole proprietorship, and hold a contract to carry out an assignment for a Norwegian business.
Ensure the Norwegian client has a registered business address, the remuneration is not below normal Norwegian levels, and any regulated work has the required authorisation.
Provide the assignment contract, business registration, qualification evidence, passport, and the other UDI documents, then complete identity and biometrics requirements.
This is not a general digital-nomad permission: the work must be a specific Norwegian assignment connected to the established business, and the route does not normally lead to permanent residence.
UDI states that self-employed permits can be issued for up to two years at a time and may be limited to six years before a required period outside Norway; confirm the exact sub-route before applying.
