The China D7 checklist requires resources for at least 12 months under Ordinance 1563/2007. Using the 2026 €920 wage, the single-adult planning reference is €11,040/year; household supplements, statutory deductions and any applicable reductions/exemptions must be checked with the consulate.
Provide the national visa form, passport, photos, insurance, criminal record and any other documents required by the responsible post; the residence permit is applied for separately after entry.
The €920 wage reference applies in 2026, not a new increase since the August audit baseline. AIMA's general means page still displays the 2025 wage: use the current wage and the applicable checklist.
Law 61/2025 applies to procedures started from 23 October 2025. Ordinary family reunification has a two-year residence-permit requirement; qualifying spouses/partners with 18 months' prior cohabitation have 15 months. Dependent minors/incapacitated persons and a spouse/partner who is their co-parent are exempt; specified highly qualified/investment/EU Blue Card permits and exceptional waivers also have exceptions. This is not a blanket two-year rule for every D7 family.
From 11 September 2026, Article 82(5) sets an ordinary initial residence-permit decision period of 90 days, exceptionally extendable by 30 days with reasons and notification. Other statutory periods take precedence. This is not a visa deadline or an appointment/card-delivery guarantee.
Preparation checklist
Confirm the current China D7 checklist and the type/source of qualifying income.
Collect pension or property/investment income evidence showing it is available in Portugal.
Prepare at least 12 months of resources evidence, adjusted for your household and the applicable consular rules.
Arrange identity, insurance, criminal-record and any requested housing/legalisation documents.
Check whether family will accompany the visa applicant or apply later for reunification; assess the correct procedure and exceptions.
Plan the AIMA permit application separately and retain dated submission records.
