For location-independent work for a foreign employer/company or mainly foreign clients; D-visa funds and nomad earnings evidence must both be checked.
Route overview
Typical timeline / duration: D visa: up to 365 days within 12 consecutive months; consecutive D visas are limited to 548 days in 730 days. A C visa has separate short-stay rules.
Important notes
Show that duties can be performed remotely for an employer/company registered outside Estonia, or freelance clients mainly outside Estonia.
The New Delhi nomad checklist asks for income over the preceding six months meeting €4,500 gross per month, supported by contracts, bank/pay records and lawful-source evidence.
The Foreign Ministry's D-visa subsistence table separately lists teleworking funds of €132 per day (€3,960 per month). Ask the handling mission how its current nomad-income and subsistence requirements apply to you.
For a D visa, provide passport, form, photo, insurance, purpose and travel evidence, and authenticated foreign public documents translated into Estonian or English.
The New Delhi page is a local checklist, including India-specific tax evidence; it is not a Chinese applicant's universal document list. Its earnings figure is not replaced automatically by the national subsistence table.
Select a C or D visa according to the intended stay. D-visa time limits are not permanent residence or permission to work for any Estonian employer.
The current source differences are disclosed rather than described as a new October 2026 reduction in the nomad earnings threshold.
