An employer-specific permit where the employer usually demonstrates that hiring the foreign worker will not negatively affect Canada's labour market.

Important notes

• Have a genuine Canadian job offer from an employer prepared to complete the LMIA process where required.
• Provide the positive LMIA decision, employment contract, wage and occupation details, and proof that the worker meets the job requirements.
• Submit passport, application, biometrics, medical or police documents where applicable, and respect the employer-specific conditions.
• This is the standard LMIA-supported route, separate from Global Talent and provincial nomination pathways.
• The permit normally does not allow work for an unrelated employer.
