Hold a higher-education degree or demonstrate the specialist expertise through work experience or other education, with the employer confirming the fit.
Submit the residence-permit application and have the employer supplement the terms of employment in Enter Finland for Employers.
A first specialist residence permit can normally be issued for up to two years, or for the shorter employment period if the contract ends sooner.
Eligible specialist applications can use Finland's fast-track service, which Migri says can issue the permit in about two weeks; a D visa can be requested at the same time.
